SENIOR AUTOMATION ENGINEER 

The Senior Automation Engineer will be a part of ESCO Groups’ Automation Team in the St. Louis area and will be responsible for being a leading Senior resource for automation projects. The ideal candidate will be a Systems Integrator with hands-on Allen Bradley PLC experience.

OBJECTIVES YOU WILL MEET 

As the Senior Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical services alongside a highly technical team. Objectives include: 

  • Expertise in programming and configuration of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and human-machine interface (HMI) systems to control and monitor industrial processes. 

  • Design and implement industrial automation projects that improve operational efficiency, productivity, and quality for clients. 

  • Onsite independence, delegating to team members to perform checkout and testing work on projects of varying size and complexity. 

  • Completion and delegation of programming tasks according to process narrative and/or client specifications. 

  • High proficiency with programming processes such as sequence control and system operation for process control. 

  • Effective communication and coordination within complex subcontractor, contractor, and client relationships. 

  • Provide technical support to clients during commissioning and post-project stages. 

  • Interpret process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) to identify individual I/O components and process systems for programming execution. 

  • Create and maintain custom PLC and HMI objects and displays for the efficient creation of automation programs. 

HOW YOU’LL MEET THOSE OBJECTIVES 

  • Continuously improve programming skills by staying updated with the latest advancements in PLC programming and HMI technology. 

  • Create and maintain a structured approach to troubleshooting, including diagnosing issues, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective resolutions. 

  • Effectively communicate programming vision and provide tools to team members to ensure accurate, timely completion of project deliverables. 

  • Participate in industry webinars and conferences to expand knowledge and share insights with team members. 

  • Obtain a deeper understanding of various automation components, protocols, and systems used in the industry, including multiple PLC and HMI platforms. 

  • Be motivated and motivate others in the completion of project tasks. 

  • Collaborate with project teams effectively to ensure project success. 

  • Travel to client sites and perform physical duties to implement, test, and commission automation systems.
